Hi, I am Kayla the proud Owner and Director of Streets Ahead. I have owned the salon since December 2014 and have loved the challenge. I have the best team of staff which is everything. My passion in hairdressing really is medium to short hair styles as I find this gives me my biggest creativity hit. I enjoy creating colours to complement these cuts as well.
I am lucky to have a young family now so my hours on the floor are not as they use to be but am grateful for my clients that have shifted on to my amazing staff or still see me.
Outside of work you may see me running, biking or somewhere up in the Richmond hills, we truly have a great back yard here. Hope to see you in salon soon. X
Rachel
Rachel works Monday to Friday Open to close each day.
Hi, I’m Rachel. I have been hairdressing since 2018, and have been part of the team for over 3 years now and loved every moment. I am passionate about my job and this shows through in my work, there is no better feeling then making people feel confident and beautiful. I am a huge believer that great hair starts with amazing product that’s why I love working with Kerastase. I look forward to meeting you and taking you on a hair journey
Karen
Karen works Tuesday and Wednesday
Hi, I’m Karen Berkett and I’ve been hairdressing for many years (let’s say, a little over 30!) I still hold the passion for all aspects of hairdressing and love creating new styles for my clients and working as part of the Streets Ahead team.
I believe the main reason for a client to leave a salon is because they become bored and aren’t offered change. Sometimes all that’s needed is a little facial framing highlights or a slight change in style to feel refreshed and re-vamped. I am a creative person, which extends outside of my hairdressing. I love spending time in my large garden and always have many different art projects on the go.
Skyla
Skyla works open to close, Monday to Friday.
Hi I’m Skyla ,I have been hairdressing for since 2018 and enjoy all aspects of hairdressing. I’m especially enthusiastic with blonding and transformations, if that’s a bit of you then I’m your girl! I love to connect with my clientele and ensure a happy result.
In my spare time you’ll often find me out running/walking as I love going for a wee adventure. I am looking forward to seeing you in salon at streets ahead.
Sheryn
Currently works Thursday with late night appointments available
HI i am Sheryn. I have over 20 years of experience in the hairdressing industry, I am excited to join the team at Streets Ahead. I bring passion and creativity to every appointment. My personality is vibrant and am known for my fun-loving nature and dynamic approach.
It's my goal to make my clients feel confident and beautiful.
After taking some time off to be with my two beautiful girls, I have returned to work at Streets ahead with even more energy and excitement for the craft I love. Whether it is a fresh cut, colour, or a complete transformation, you are after, you’re in expect hands with me.

Hello, my name is Eva and I am currently studying in my second year at NMIT to become an emerging stylist!
One of the things about doing hair so far that I really like is the nice interactions I get to have with people and knowing that I've helped to give a positive experience in someone's day and a look they love is really meaningful to me. I've also always enjoyed art so being able to channel that out through hair is really fun.
During my time here at streets ahead I hope to learn as much as I can and grow my skills, experience and confidence. I look forward to meeting some of you and having the opportunity to do your hair.
